Cnc is one of the coolist things I have ever tried to do. It requires mechanical as well as electronics
and computers. All the things I am interested in. My first project was a foam cutter built with
drawer slides for linear movement.
This is a fairly simple setup I use foamworks software to run
the machine. I use cadworks to convert dxf files to dat files
that the cutter can understand. the dxf files are nothing
more than polylines saved as a dxf file. The foam cutter
works on outlines of the shapes on each end of the part. The
shapes need to have the same number of points on each end
to stay in synch with each other.
These are a few of the many things I
have cut with my cutter. Click on the
pictures to see a larger image.
These pictures on the left are some linear
bearings for the router table I am going to
build. My friend Chris is going to build a
plasma table with these bearings also.
As soon as we have time to machine them I
will put up some pics.
Well here is my next project a JGRO router table. I have most of the mdf parts cut out. This will be
my starter router in so I can learn how to run the thing before taking on a large 5' x 9' router table I
have planned.
I will add some more pics as they are available!
